Europe maintains a magnetic attraction for any traveller looking for that special something, it’s all here from the excitement of new surroundings to fun filled days with friends and new acquaintances, beautiful scenery to great architecture, fast paced cities to tiny villages, delightful foods to new age fashion, enjoyable culture to plentiful history, interesting museums to immense galleries, exciting festivals to musical extravaganzas, excellent skiing to beer hall drinking, river cruising to bull running, sun baking to world class shopping. Europe is the place where everything happens and almost anything goes, where around every corner stands a new doorway and behind every door starts a new experience. Europe is where life as we know it all began, and western society around the world is heavily influenced even today by its actions. For many, a trip to Europe is like going home as much of what is done around the world is only a reflection of what happens in Europe.
Some of Europe’s popular influences include a diverse range of items from French fashion and perfume, Italian shoes and piazza, Swiss watches and chocolate, Austrian dumplings and apple strudel, German beer and cars, Dutch cheese and tulips, Spanish dancing and sangria – the list goes on but the influence doesn’t stop. Images of Europe include the highlights of the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe of Paris, the Colosseum and Vatican of Rome, the Brandenburg Gate and the Berlin Wall of Berlin, and the Parthenon and the Acropolis of Athens. Then there are the natural wonders of Europe which include the picturesque Swiss Alps, the beautiful Cinque Terre coast of Italy, the unusual hot springs and geysers of Iceland, the glorious beaches of the Costa del Sol of Spain, the stunning fjords of Norway and the magical River Rhine of Germany. There is so much to see and do its difficult to know where to begin but one thing is for sure it’s all easily accessible either by plane, fast car or super fast train.
The Europe Region is comprised of the countries of western, central and eastern Europe extending eastwards as far as the Ural Mountains in western Russia, and westwards to Iceland, and from the far northern reaches of Norway and Finland to the sun-drenched Mediterranean islands of Greece, the Caspian and Black Sea. The region includes many countries, cultures, customs, language, music, foods and drinks, an inexhaustible quantity for any traveller, add to this the exceptional variety of scenery and the large population of friendly people and Europe is a ‘must see’ for anybody wishing to have a good holiday.
