Travelling north along Australia's East Coast and stopping at a variety of destinations along the way, the Tropical Discovery tour is as the name states, a discovery. Travel from Sydney to Port Douglas. Stopping at the coastal town of Port Macquarie, spend an evening at Coffs Harbour, see Cape Byron Lighthouse where you can enjoy the superb views from Australia’s most eastern point, before eating lunch in Byron Bay. Cross the border from New South Wales to Queensland by following the Tweed River Valley to the lights of the Gold Coast. Continue to Hervey Bay for a ferry crossing to Fraser Island, a half day tour by 4WD, a visit to Lake McKenzie a freshwater lake surrounded by white sandy beaches. Lunch at Langmorn Cattle Station, cross the Tropic of Capricorn to Rockhampton and cruise the Whitsunday Islands, with accommodation on Hamilton Island and a tour of Whitehaven Beach. North is Townsville, Port Douglas & Cairns, with side-trips to the Atherton Tablelands, Kuranda and the world famous Great Barrier Reef.
