Discover Rome with a local guide that takes you to St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, cross the River Tiber to overlook the Forum and see the mighty Colosseum and the Circus Maximus. Journey towards Venice, through the Umbrian Hills to see the hilltop towns of Orte and Orvieto, before entering Tuscany with its flowing vineyards and terrace olive groves and continuing on towards the Veneto plains with all that awaits in this famous city. A morning canal cruise takes you to St. Mark’s Square where you can see the Bridge of Sighs and the impressive Ducal Palace. Another magnificent destination is the Italian Lake District, Lake Maggiore, where you’ll be spending your last night in Italy. Switzerland’s scenic drives will leave you breathless the Gotthard route consists of one of the longest European road tunnels, and takes you to the beautiful town of Lucerne. Walk along to wooden Chapel Bridge and view the rushing River Reuss, just before shopping for delicious chocolates and Swiss watches. Heading into France, we stop to view the extensive vineyards of Savigny-Les-Beaune, and drive through the farmland areas of Burgundy and Auxerre before reaching Paris. Escorted by a local guide your morning includes views of Notre Dame Cathedral, several bridges including the Pont Alexandre III, and an ascent of the Eiffel Tower to see wonderful Paris from its second level just before driving along the Champs Elysses to the Arc De Triomphe. Explore Paris at your own pace in the afternoon, maybe with a trip to the Louvre or the Palace and Gardens of Versailles, before your farewell dinner. The last day includes a drive past the First World War battlefields of the Somme, a ferry ride across the Channel to Dover and vision of the ‘White Cliffs’ and a final farewell at London.
