This popular tour suits both the first-time and the seasoned traveller who want a well paced and in depth tour of just one country. Italy has so much to offer in history, art and architecture not to mention the shopping. With only one, one night stay in Assisi the tour gives you plenty of time to enjoy each city at a leisurely pace and there is a welcome break in the Italian lakes to relax and enjoy all that the beautiful Lakeland area has to offer with free time to do your own thing. The first two nights are spent in Rome and there is an in-depth sightseeing tour on the morning of the second day. There is also time for you to enjoy the sights, sounds and espresso coffee. From Rome the tour travels through the picturesque medieval town of Siena and into Tuscany for two nights in Florence. See the amazing statue of David in the Academy Gallery, the tombs of Galileo and Michelangelo in the Santa Croce Basilica. There is much to see and do in this wonderful city and for shopping the leather and gold is a must. Travel to Pisa to see the famous Leaning Tower and head north to Milan before arriving at Lake Maggiore. Briefly enter Switzerland to visit the mountain ringed resort of Lugano where there is time to shop for watches and sample some fine chocolate. Passing through Verona the tour takes you to the beautiful city of Venice, a highlight of any trip to Italy. Visit the Church of St Apollinaris in Classe with its amazing mosaics in the city of Ravenna and then travel to Assisi where you will enjoy a guided visit inside the basilica of St. Francis. Drive past the vineyards and along the clifftops to the picturesque holiday resort of Sorrento. While there you cruise to the Island of Capri and ascend to Capri town by funicular railway. There is time to explore the boutiques and enjoy the town. Drive to the ancient Roman city of Pompeii on your way back to Rome where you will enjoy a farewell dinner.
