| Dublin, East and Dublin, Ireland |
Dublin is a bustling and vibrant city of 505,739 people (2006 census), located near the mid point on the eastern coastline of Ireland. The city is the heartbeat of Ireland, being the administrative, social and cultural centre of the country, and reflects all of Ireland’s best qualities!! It is the capital of the Republic of Ireland, and has been since Medieval times, and lies in the centre of the Dublin Region.
Dublin is the third most visited capital city in Europe, after Paris and London, with over 4 million people visiting the city every year!! Today, Dublin is the fastest growing city in Europe, as the country’s affluence, sparked by its inclusion in the European Union, has attracted many businesses and people to the city for work opportunities.
The city has much to offer the tourist, and is a perfect city to start any touring holiday. During the day, visitors can take a guided walk around the city to learn the general area and become acquainted with the layout. Or just dive in, get a map and walk around, to feel and see the city, which is steeped in history and culture, it’s almost best to make a short list first, so you don’t waste too much time!! Add to this the attraction of the trendy cafes and clothes shops, the 1000 pubs and the pull of a Guinness and some Irish music – if only you had more time!! At night the city comes alive with more entertainment, international dining, theatre, jazz and comedy clubs, and everywhere you go, more Irish music, the whole place sings!!
Must see locations.
