Yasawa Island is the main, and most northerly island within the Yasawa Archipelago. It is the longest island at 22 kilometres, and one of the narrowest at 1 kilometre!! It is well known for its authenticity, with several traditional fishing villages with their thatched roofed houses, where the locals live as they would have years ago, no electricity, no running water and no T.V.!! Having been formed by volcanic activity, the island has a fantastic coastline of cliffs and bays, sandy beaches, picturesque villages and azure tropical seas, with a tree fringed coast and grassy hill interior. Easy to walk around and explore, the island is a fantastic destination for those wanting a quiet, secluded, back to nature holiday!!
The island is famous for its beaches with Paradise Beach, Champagne Beach, Atus beach, Lovers Beach and Valawalu Beach, all being worth a visit. With these excellent beaches, great fishing and snorkelling, the island can be enjoyed through its only tourist accommodation at the Yasawa Island Resort, known for its solitude and luxury. With its own airstrip, the resort is easily accessible, via a 35 minute flight from Nadi Airport, or via a water service provided by the fast catamarans from Tavewa.
