The popular beach resort of Hua Hin is located on the eastern coast of the Isthmus of Kra, the land-bridge which connects the Malay Peninsula with mainland Thailand. It lies approximately 190 kilometres south of Bangkok in the Prachuap Khiri Khan Province of Central Thailand. The Prachuap Khiri Khan Province is an area of rich natural resources which includes mountains, waterfalls, caves, islands, and beautiful relaxing beaches, and features the Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park that was established to protect the largest freshwater marshes in Thailand. This popular park features soaring peaks, numerous caves and exotic bird life, and is easily accessible from Hua Hin. Considered to be one of the country’s oldest resort towns, Hua Hin is now a ‘royal resort’ elevated to this status by the permanent presence of His Majesty the King of Thailand who lives in the nearby Klai Kang Won Palace. Overlooking the golden beaches of the Gulf of Thailand the town of Hua Hin fronts the main beach which extends to the north and south of town and stretches for approximately 5 kilometres. The main beach extends towards the south where it encompasses the tree-lined beaches around Takiab Bay. Providing visitors with a complete range of outdoor watersports, Hua Hin also offers fun and adventure through its trekking, elephant rides, four-wheel drive vehicle rides, fishing and boat trips. Other attractions include the world class golf courses - the unusually decorated Hua Hin Railway Station, which is considered to be Thailand’s most beautiful station – the Buddhist temples of Khao Takiab, where visitors can feed the monkeys and climb to the viewpoint for excellent views over the nearby beaches – and the local night markets where delicious local seafood is available. The market is an ideal location to absorb the relaxing atmosphere and watch the culture of this generally rural and quite destination.
