The island of Qamea is located approximately two and a half kilometres off the north-eastern coast of Taveuni, which is the third largest island within the Republic of the Fiji Islands. Qamea is one of three small privately owned islands which lie off Thurston Point, the others being Matagi and Laucala, all of which provide visitors with luxury resort accommodation with traditional Fijian hospitality. The island of Qamea covers almost 35 square kilometres of hilly and forested terrain and supports six, small, scattered villages, with Kocoma being the largest with over 500 inhabitants. Qamea island is irregularly shaped being approximately 10 kilometres long and from a few hundred metres to 5 kilometres wide, and is complemented with white sandy beaches lined with coconut palms, and hidden bays. This secluded and private island provides visitors with a unique experience of Fijian life and offers the opportunity to explore its tropical forests or enjoy the variety of water sports which are readily accessible. Ranging from fishing and sailing, to water-skiing and windsurfing, the island provides some of the world’s finest diving sites such as the Purple Wall, Devil's Canyon, Qamea Freeway and the Yellow Wall, most of which are located within ten minutes by boat from the Qamea Island Resort.
