Italy
Italy is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations, home to many of the world’s best known attractions such as the Colosseum of Rome, St Marks Square and the canals of Venice, the Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo of Florence, Mount Vesuvius and the ruins of Pompeii, the awesome volcanic Mount Etna, the inspiring Milan Cathedral and the huge St. Peters Basilica in the Vatican. This is complimented by the fantastic works of art such as the Sistine Chapel, the Last Supper, the statue of David and the Mona Lisa!! Everyday, touring opens up new horizons which can be filled with excellent foods and flavorsome wines with some exciting days wandering around old medieval streets amongst buildings that exude history. Or perhaps nerve racking days driving along winding, narrow coast roads or weaving amongst seemingly insane drivers!! Or maybe inspiring days wondering at the marvels of colossal buildings that history left behind. It is these historic towns, classic ruins, museums and art galleries, plus the mountain vistas, vineyard covered hills, blue/green grottos, volcanoes and island paradises, all surrounded by the excitable, energetic, friendly people that make Italy so attractive!!

The Italian Republic is a peninsular which lies within the Mediterranean Sea, and includes the islands of Sardinia and Sicily, and the enclaves of St Marino and the Vatican City. Rome is the capital of the country, and administers 20 regions, home to approximately 60 million people. The diverse terrain and natural beauty of the country is one of its great assets as it stretches from the awesome European Alps in the north and the famous Lakes District, to the picturesque central hills of the Appenines in which can be found Tuscany, and the drier, hotter and dustier regions of the south, with, in many cases, a rugged and beautiful coastline of steep rocky cliffs and pounding seas, such as those of the Amalfi Coast and the Cinque Terre region!! Known the world over for the bright sunshine and warm days, the whole country is aglow with sparkling reflections, gentle breezes and clear air. It is an exciting destination, a place of first experiences, romance and memories that never leave you and draw you back!!

The cities and towns are awash with history, with churches seemingly on every street corner and ruins galore, but dig deeper and the story unfolds of a mighty nation, once the centre of western civilization and unifier of Europe, birthplace of the Renaissance and a leader in art, sculpture, and today, fashion and design!! ‘Style’ is a key word for Italy, as style is a way of life, used in the way shop windows are displayed, clothes are worn and people behave, its something a visitor is uniquely aware of – and Italy has ‘style’!!
