Constructed in 1877, the Friedrichsbad is an elegant and historic bathing temple that provides a luxurious experience which is complemented by the magnificent atmosphere that has evolved over 130 years of traditional bathing practices. The complex is fed by 12 thermal springs which originate in the Florentine Hills of Baden-Baden, with water temperatures ranging between 56 and 68 degrees centigrade. Friedrichsbad provides visitors with the beautiful centrally located domed hall with its circular swimming pool, full thermal baths, thermal whirlpool baths, thermal steam baths, warm air baths, hot air baths, massage rooms and resting areas. The combination of Roman and Irish bathing traditions, which include heat, massage, steam and water, have been tailored into a 16 step ritual which includes four showers, warm-air bath, hot-air bath, soap and brush massage, two thermal steam baths, thermal full bath, thermal whirlpool bath, thermal kinotherapeutic bath, cold-water bath, drying off, the application of moisturizing cream, and finishing off in the relaxing resting area where visitors are wrapped up in a warm blanket and allowed to sleep for roughly 30 minutes. From here it’s time to come back to earth, spend a little time in the reading room and get ready to venture outside of this wonderful establishment feeling like a new person. Please note – On Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays men and women bathe separately, and on these days they can meet under the central dome by the circular pool. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, men and women can bathe together during each stage. It is advisable on your first visit to Friedrichsbad to read the procedural instructions carefully, and if required ensure that you have a token for the soap-and-massage therapy.
For convenience parking is readily available right next door to the Friedrichsbad.
Last admission is two hours before closing time.
As the baths are strictly nudist you will not need a swimming costume. Admission fee is for three hours and each additional half hour costs 3.50 euros.
