Looking like a giant bicycle wheel, the London Eye spins elegantly above the busy streets of England’s capital city. Seen from miles around, the London Eye attracts many visitors to this amazing feat of engineering which has taken seven years to design and build. Standing an incredible 135 metres high, the London Eye is the largest Ferris wheel in Europe and the largest cantilevered wheel in the world, and provides visitors with the ability to see 40 kilometres in any direction. This means on a clear day it is possible not only to see some of London’s major attractions such as the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace and St Paul’s Cathedral but also as far as Windsor Castle!!
The London Eye is the most popular tourist destination in the United Kingdom and attracts on average 3.5 million passengers every year. The Ferris wheel is equipped with 32 capsules, each of which can carry up to 25 passengers, which means at its maximum 800 visitors can be carried on each revolution that takes 30 minutes.
From October to May the London Eye stops at 8:00 pm .
