Phoenix Park is the largest urban enclosed park in Europe. It has a circumference of 11km and a total area of 712 hectares (1,760 acres). Situated 3km from the city centre it is commonly referred to as Dublin's playground.
Ornamental gardens, nature trails and broad expanses of grassland, seperated by avenues of trees including oak, beech, pine , chessnut and lime. Be prepared to see the livestock grazing peacefully on pastureland, dear roaming the forested areas and horses galloping by.
The Phoenix Park is open 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week, all year round. The main gates of the Park at Parkgate Street and Castleknock Gate are open 24 hours. The side gates to the Park are open from 7am until 11pm
